This week in the Workshop…

So much is going on!
I can’t really say what is the most exciting part of my week.

  • I got started on a BIG project (big for me) and I can’t wait to share it with you when I am done. That might be a blog post all on its own.

  • We celebrated our 1 year anniversary over here at Gee Cee’s Workshop on April 1. There was an instagram post and I’ll confess I did not eat ice cream but I probably did eat some candy. Here’s a couple of notable milestones!

    • We are classified as a toy manufacturer, so it’s a good thing I made some stuffed toys. There are chickens and birds, a whale and an octopus, Crowns, stars, hearts, flowers… As well as a few hats and scarves for the fun of it. I made a couple of dolls and probably a bunch of other things too.

    • John picked up a 3d printer and started printing spinning wheel parts and anything I ask for, which isn’t much because I can never decide what I want him to print

    • I live streamed for 58 hours! It sure felt like more, but I did achieve my goal of streaming for at least an hour a week

    • I also started teaching beginning spinning and will soon be teaching knitting as well. Live in person. Stay tuned for an updated calendar where you can book me to come and teach to you too!

  • Friday night we live streamed and I worked on the fingerless gloves pattern that I will be teaching at the Fiber Arts Fiesta the first weekend of May in Vista CA. I realized that I should test the pattern before I taught it! We had fun conversations about swamps and alligators and how Alligators, Nutrinos, and giant cockroaches that fly are way scarier than earthquakes. But really, it’s all about what you are used to!

  • I finished a chicken! We are kind of giggling about her shape, Then I saw a photo of my friend’s ckicken and I realized that chickens are sometimes just shaped that way, whether they are knit or feathered.

You’ll start to see some changes around here. Namely, updates to the blog where I will focus on what is happening around the workshop. In my head, that will happen daily, but more realistically, it will be weekly. I would like to give myself the space to do either one. Over the next year, I’ll get the webstore open so you don’t have to find us in person to purchase, if you decide you would like to do so.

And finally, I would like to spend more time streaming. I’m going to aim to double what I did last year and stream for two hours a week. Viewership grew last year, but I really need to do more if I am going to fund a yarn store. Cheers to another year in the workshop and all the joys of crafting. I hope you join us; I want to see what you are making too!
