What came first?

It’s Spring! or close to it. I think. I don’t know, it’s still February when I am posting this. Whenever you are reading this, on the 20th of March, we are knitting eggs. Yes, the week before last we knit chickens which in this case, we can say for certain that the chicken came first.

Knit Daffodils

Daffodils are my favorite. From the depiction of them in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland to the bunches of them that spring up each year in Julian, CA, I just want to smell them. and pet them, and marvel at their natural perfection. So what makes more sense but to knit myself a bunch in case mine don’t bloom this year? Here is the pattern I will be using: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/daffodils-6

Paper roses

I love making paper roses! They are so easy and provide a wonderful visual. You will need paper (not too thin, and not card stock. I use book pages from an encyclopedia that is WAY out of date) paints (diluted acrylics or watercolors) if you want colorful flowers or your paper isn’t pre-colorfuled. (that’s not even a word) Hot glue, and scissors.

Heart Stuffie

I promised a couple of months ago that we would knit hearts, and here we are! It’s getting close to Valentine’s day and even though I don’t really celebrate, I still like to make heart shaped items! For this knit, you will need double pointed needles, yarn, and stuffing. Oh, and a yarn needle. This is a heart that is safe to give away!

Hats. They are like a hug for your head pt 1

I’m going to let you pick your favorite hat pattern to knit along! As of the scheduling of this live, I just don’t know which, of the many hats I love to knit, will be my choice for the knit along. This will be a two-parter since I don’t think I can knit w whole hat in an hour. Bring your hat making supplies, and let’s craft together!

Live Stream - Tiny sweaters

An excellent way to use up sock yarn, these tiny sweaters are so sweet, and fit really nicely on fashion dolls of the 11 1/2 inch variety. I have not tried them on a different doll! This is what I think of when people ask me if I have ever knit a sweater. The answer is yes. tiny, tiny sweaters. They work up fast, and since we are just 6 days away from winter holiday madness and eating 7-11 hotdogs for dinner if you didn’t make better plans (what? is it just me? everything was closed.) You can play around with gauge on these, to get the look you want, but I doubt you will be able to size them up for your favorite toddler. I have a different pattern for that.

Crafty Catchup

I’m updating the topic of tonight’s live because, well, I think we need som catchup time more than we need another ornament. It’s still a great pattern, but I’m looking at my desk and I’m thinking, you’ve got some catching up to do!

Felt Stars

We will be embellishing felt star ornaments this week, so bring your precut stars (or hearts or shape of your dreams) and we will lightly embroider and hand sew them together. It’s been awhile since we made a felt craft and these make really nice gift dangles, ornaments, host(ess) gifts, whatever you decide you want to do. Let’s hang out and craft together!

Live Stream - The Knit Pickle

It’s that time of year, and I meant to do this earlier in the season, but here we are! Today we are knitting pickles. We will talk about the origins of the Christmas Pickle and how this project is celebrated here in the workshop.

You will need: Green yarn and double pointed needles in a size appropriate for your yarn. The following items are optional: beads (you will need a flexible beading needle if you decide to add beads) eyes and other face parts.

You will need to know: knitting in the round, short rows, placing beads.

This project is very silly and delightful and I can’t wait to knit along with you! The pattern I use is here, but of course you can pick the one you like the best. I just want to craft with you!

Dio de los Muertos - flowers!

Lets make flowers to celebrate the Day of the Dead

Traditionally, marigolds are used to decorate for this holiday, but these can be difficult to obtain and keep long term. For my Offrenda, I like to make my flowers out of tissue paper or yarn. I’ll show tou how to do both!
You will need orange and yellow yarn and/or tissue paper, and green pipe cleaners (chenille stems) and scissors for this craft!

BOO! A(nother) Ghost! New type of project! - Paper Clay!

To continue our spooky decoration fun. tonight we are making paper clay ghosts as seen in this quick tutorial~ https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4J75Eh2WpY8 you will need:
Air dry clay, something to use as a mold (she uses spice jars and a ping pong ball. I’m going to use whatever I find laying around in my crafty wonderland) battery operated tea lights, and something to decorate your ghosts when they are dry, unless you want to leave them plain, which is totally okay too. You will also need something with which to poke out their eyes and mouth!
