Two sisters walk in to a yarn shop

Coffee and cookies in hand, they walk through the door and into a room. There’s a basket maker in the front, selling her projects and advertising for classes. There are flowery couches and comfy seating. Yarn lines the walls.

The first sister says, “I want to have something like this someday” and the second sister said, “okay. let’s do it”. Or something like that. The second sister tends to be a little kooky. There may have been some cussing, but this is a family friendly blog.

Hi! I’m Gina. I’m sister number two and I want to give my big sister all the wonders. The feeling is mutual and extends to our 4 other siblings. I love a good challenge and have always been business minded so I started thinking about how I could fund a yarn shop for my sister and I. There is a plan, and it starts here, with Gee Cee’s Workshop.

I realized that I’m always making something (I even took that basketry class! It was fun!) and I love to share my creative joy, so step 1 was to establish a streaming channel where I can host tutorials and craftalongs. Overall, Gee Cee’s Workshop is a conceptual place of barely-fettered creativity and sharing.

At Gee Cee’s Workshop, we strive to be authentic. The Workshop is wherever I am and sometimes that’s curled up on a couch, and sometimes it’s posted up at my desk. These are the real places where I create and eventually, I hope to visit additional spaces as I rope my friends and family into my vision. I love to post what I am working on using Instagram, and will expand to include the Artists in Residence, who will join in the fun as soon as I convince them that they want to.

As I progress through this journey, I am looking forward to the opportunity to amplify other creatives and small business people. There are so many out there who I would like to patronize. I’ve got my eyes on kits, tools, and supplies and will make sure that you know whose stuff I’m buying so that if you like it, you can purchase too.

I hate to be left out. Inclusion is close to my heart and I’ll be exercising the opportunity to bring crafting to anyone interested in learning. I believe that making stuff is part of who we are as humans and that everyone should have the opportunity to try new ways to art. Whether it’s suggestions on how to get started for less or providing free lessons on Twitch, I’m here to help and to support.

I can’t wait to share my adventures with you and for you to come along. What are you making today?
